MENTAL DIET: How To Become A Peak Performer In Life

Seler ads

A young eaglet was put in a cage and allowed to grow there while receiving nourishment and care. When the eaglet grew into an eagle, the ceiling of the cage was opened. Guess what! The eagle couldn’t soar out of the cage.

The reason was simple; he had the ability and potential to soar but was unable to because he had been mentally conditioned to stay in the cage. The eagle’s problem was a self-imposed limitation.

Therefore, many people are stuck with what they are and where they are due to past conditioning and not because of a lack of opportunity or fate. In fact, we see life not as it is but as we’ve been conditioned to see it.

The belief we have of ourselves and our abilities will determine our performance. Most of the limitations that stop us right on our track toward success are internal; and self-imposed.

Anyone can conquer external limitations if the individual can conquer the limitations within his or her mind. Nothing is impossible to the one who discovers the limitless power within. It has been said, there is no such thing as an unrealistic vision or goal only unrealistic timeframes.

Self-imposed limitations have precedence over self-limiting beliefs. Belief is being persuaded about a particular thing. It is the convictions you hold about yourself and your world.

Belief is the mental acceptance of certain thoughts or ideas. A self-limiting belief is a restricted view or perspective about who you are and what you are capable of doing; it confines not only your life but also your worldview into your self-made “box”.

Beliefs set the boundaries of your life experience. Your life can never rise above the beliefs you choose to uphold. Beliefs determine your attitude, behavior, and results throughout life.

Beliefs cut across every aspect of life; finances, relationships, career, health, happiness, and your entire life are a reflection of your beliefs. We can affirm that beliefs determine whether we are rich or poor, happy or unhappy, whether relationships are enjoyed or endured, and whether we become successful or unsuccessful.

Everyone has a philosophy that guides his or her life; a set of core beliefs. Unfortunately, most people do not consciously choose the beliefs that they have allowed to rule their lives.

From infancy onward we take in information from various sources around us. We absorb the teachings, feelings, and experiences we were exposed to. As we grew into adulthood we had already gathered beliefs about money, health, relationships, marriage, work, and every important aspect of life.

However, much of the information we take in and accept which has become our beliefs may not empower our destiny but handicaps it. Many of these beliefs place a ceiling on who we can be, what we can do, and what we can have.

Self-limiting belief premised on fear and doubt. Fear and doubt are success’s most deadly enemies; it stabs creativity, cripples the power of imagination, incapacitates ability and potential, and undermines self-worth.

Doubt places limits on intelligence, capability, and confidence. Fear attracts the things we dread and handicaps our ability to take appropriate actions and control our lives.

Negative beliefs, for the most part, originate from how you interpret your past experiences; your upbringing, childhood experiences, and people’s opinions of you especially people who are close to you and those that you respect and trust.

The root of these negative beliefs is negative thought patterns. You can change your self-limiting beliefs by questioning and replacing your thought patterns with a positive flow.

The good news is that you do not have to accept other people’s negative opinions of you as your reality.

Examine your thought patterns:

  • What are your beliefs about money?
  • What are your beliefs about success or business?
  • What are your beliefs about love and relationships?
  • What are your beliefs about your abilities, intelligence, and your life?
  • What beliefs do you have about the world, people, and the challenges of life?
  • Do you believe you deserve and can achieve your dreams?
  • Are your beliefs in line with your goals?

Therefore, if you want to change your reality in any aspect of life, change your beliefs in regard to that area of life.

Many people tend to believe what everybody else believes in. Human beings tend to choose to move along with popular opinion about who they are and about what is possible; being crowd-driven rather than self-driven.

The aftermath is destinies become stunted because the potentials that the Creator had invested within are not maximized and mediocrity becomes the norm.

Refuse to be chained down by popular belief.
