THE DIFFERENCE ONE LIFE CAN MAKE

MICHAEL JORDAN: BY ACCLAMATION THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME -THE CHAMPION MENTALITY.

To emerge champion in the domain of life, you must become a conqueror of the battles of life. To become a conqueror, you must possess a victor mentality.

There’s a secret about becoming a champion; all champions must of necessity secure private victories before they can gain the celebrated status of public victories of recognized talent. The private victories are the foundation and springboard for public victories. Becoming a champion is not for those with a wishbone but a backbone.

Never envy the accomplishments of others: you see the glory but you never know their story; you see their achievements but you never know how they struggled; you hear of their fame but you never know they had experienced shame; you see their strengths but you never know they tirelessly worked to gain those strengths; you admire their personality but you never know the huge investments they have made on their personality; you esteem their character but you never know how they overcame the weaknesses in their character and are still overcoming; you see their growth but you never know that it is a daily committed intentional choice to grow.

Are you ready to become a champion in the game of life? Are you ready to become unstoppable?

I introduce to you, Michael Jordan a former professional American basketball player who by acclamation is the greatest basketball player of all time.

Michael Jordan won six N.B. Championships and six finals M.V.P as a player. He has the highest scoring average and he is a Hall of fame, Inductee. He finally left the scene of basketball after the 2002/2003 season.

Let Michael Jordan reveal to you his mentality in becoming a champion in the game of life in his own words.

AIM FOR THE BEST:

“I have the goal of being the best, but I approach everything step by step using short-term goals. When I meet one goal, I set another reasonable goal. I can achieve this if I work hard. Each success leads to the next one.”

VISUALIZATION LEADS TO MATERIALIZATION:

“Each time I visualize where I want to be and what kind of player I want to become. I approach it with the end in mind.  I know exactly where I want to go, and I focus on getting there.”

  • MICHAEL JORDAN.

ASK FOR HELP:

“I’m not afraid to ask anybody anything. Why should I be afraid? My attitude is: ‘Help me, give me direction’.

  • MICHAEL JORDAN.

BE SUCCESS CONSCIOUS:

“I never look at the consequences of failing, because when you think about the consequences, you always think of a negative result. If I’m jumping into any situation, I’m thinking I’m going to be successful – not about what happens if I fail.”

  • MICHAEL JORDAN.

“I realized that if I was going to achieve anything in life, I had to be aggressive. I had to get out there and go for it. I don’t believe you can achieve anything by being passive.”

FOCUS ON WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL – YOUR ACTIONS:

“Fear sometimes comes from a lack of concentration. If you know you are doing the right things; just relax and perform. Forget about the outcome. You can’t control anything anyway.”

  • MICHAEL JORDAN.

BE WHOLEHEARTED:

“I can’t do things half-heartedly because if I do them I can expect half-hearted results. That’s why I approach practices the same way I approach games. I can’t dog it during practice and then, when I need that extra push late in the game, expect to be there.”

  • MICHAEL JORDAN.

GET RID OF EXCUSES AND RIDE ON THE WINNING LANE:

“You see it all the time in business. There are a million excuses for not paying the price: ‘If only I was given a particular opportunity,’ ‘If only the boss liked me, I could accomplish this or that.’ Nothing but excuses.”

OVERCOME OBSTACLES:

“If you’re trying to achieve there will be roadblocks. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

  • MICHAEL JORDAN.

TEAMWORK IS INVALUABLE:

“Our society tends to glamorize individual success without considering the entire process. What if you have a C.E.O. with a great idea, but he doesn’t have the people in place to make it happen? If you don’t have all the pieces, particularly at the frontlines, that idea doesn’t mean a thing.”

-MICHAEL JORDAN.

“Managers like coaches have to find ways to utilize individual talents in the best interests of the company. It’s a selfless process. In our society sometimes it’s hard to come to grips with filling a role instead of trying to be a superstar. We tend to ignore or fail to respect all the parts that make the whole possible. Talents win games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.

  • MICHAEL JORDAN.

MASTER THE FUNDAMENTALS:

“Everything I achieved can be traced back to the way I approached and applied the fundamentals; the basic building blocks or principles that make everything work. I don’t care what you’re doing – you can’t skip fundamentals if you want to be the best. But some guys don’t want to deal with that. They’re looking for instant gratification, so maybe they skip a few steps.

The moment you get away from fundamentals – whether it‘s proper technique, work ethic, or mental preparation – the bottom can fall out of your game, your school work, your job, whatever you’re doing.”

  • MICAHEL JORDAN.

FAILURE IS NOT A PERSON:

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot…and missed. I’ve failed over, and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

My advice is: Think positive and find fuel in failure. Sometimes failure gets you closer to where you want to be.”
