The first step to transforming your life to reach your potential is to grow in self-awareness.

Have you ever heard or read, “know your business”, “know your customers”, or “know the right people”. That’s all great. Go for them.

However, that’s not a pretty place to start – the place to start is to know yourself – self-awareness, that’s only when you can live authentically and become a person of influence.

– To choose the right business, you must first know yourself.

– To choose the right network or friends you must know yourself.

– To know your customers you must know yourself.

– To choose the right occupation or career you must first know yourself.

– To choose the right mentor you must know yourself.

– To choose the right person to marry you must know yourself.

It all begins with self-awareness. How well you know yourself will determine how well you can grow yourself, and how well you can grow yourself will determine how far you will go in life.

One of the majors to know yourself is to know what you were created to do

8 Ways To Know What You Were Created To Do – Self-Awareness Profile

1. What is your deepest heart’s desire for what you would like to do with your life?

What you deeply love to do using your gifts and abilities is what you’ve been created to do to impact the lives of people. This is where your unique wisdom lies.

2. What do you really care about?

What enlivens your spirit and you imagine doing which gives your soul satisfaction is what you were born to do. This is what you are passionate about rather than being interested in. This is what drives you. Your passion is a pointer to what you were created to do.

3. What makes you angry?

This kind of anger is not a selfish one which is destructive in nature. This is righteous anger that is constructive in nature and seeks to confront the wrong or injustice and effect a positive change in constructive ways for the greater good of humanity.

4. What makes you weep?

Compassion is a signpost of what you were made to change. This is when you deeply feel a need to change or solve a problem that others may care little about or even be indifferent about.

5. What do you want to do for humanity?

Personally, I feel deeply drawn to this “burden.” To me, it is not about “what I will love to be remembered for;” rather, it is about what I am living for and the sacrifice I am willing to make, which culminates in an impact that has eternal value because I am on this planet.

6. What would you do if money or other compensation were not a factor?

What would you rather do if money wasn’t involved and you received no praise or recognition for it? What would you be doing if there was no compensation in whatever way?

This is the key:

The very thing that you can do without being paid is usually the very thing that attracts prosperity to you and much more which you are happiest doing.

This is where play becomes work and work becomes play as you develop your gifts, talents, and abilities to become indispensable – That’s the domain peak performers function.

7.   What endeavor would best connect you with your Creator?

What you were created to do must, of necessity, draw you closer to your Creator and not away from Him. It makes no difference the money involved, the applause of the crowd, or even any worldly glory.

Is your endeavor helping you to develop – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control or is it leaving you worse off in your character? What you were born to do must make you grow to become a better person every day.

8. What would you do if fear was not a factor?

What would you do if you were not afraid? If you knew you could not fail what would you rather be doing? In the absence of worries, risks, or limitations what would be your life’s work? Your response is reflective of what you’ve been created to do.
