Listen intently to understand others and speak with clarity to make known your position or viewpoints. Never conceal important and necessary information that will create a deeper understanding in the mind of another.
However, give no attention to the cynics and naysayers whose purpose is to dispute and disrepute your intentions and personality.
Speak truthfully in love and model transparency except in things that wisdom demands to be kept confidential and are not the business of another.
Therefore, to communicate effectively, seek to understand others first and speak distinctly to be understood by others. Ignore your accusers but ignite understanding.
PRACTICAL GUIDE
I will communicate my vision to the team in clear terms and encourage them to give their input and suggestions to achieve the common goal of the organization.
I will tell my team the “why” behind the “what” in making policies and in any required changes.
I will clarify expectations on both sides in my dealings with others.
I won’t just tell my team what to do; I will also show them how to do it and the reason for doing it.
I will have a track record of saying what I mean and mean what I say to inspire confidence and understanding of my words.
