MENTAL DIET: How To Create Empowering Life’s Values (Part 5)

The values test makes your success stand the test of time
Dr. William James of Harvard puts it this way, ‘Action seems to follow feelings, but really action and feelings go together and by regulating the action, which is under the more direct control of the will, we can indirectly regulate the feeling, which is not.”
Behave as though you possess the quality of courage, and you will develop and evolve into a courageous person. Behave as though you possess the quality of compassion, and you will develop and evolve into a compassionate person. Behave yourself into the kind of person you want to be. Behave your way into the virtues or the values you want to manifest in your everyday life. Behave your way into accomplishing the results or outcome you desire. Whatever you consistently behave, you will eventually become or have.
The Act-as-if-principle is the connection between the kind of person you are presently and the kind of person you could become. You become what you behave, and you behave as you believe. When you act like it, intending to be like it, you will eventually become it.
The more you “act the part,” the more you will manifest the part. When you practice courage or good values under pressure or stress, you condition courage or those values to be an integral part of your makeup. The self-discipline to live faithfully in harmony with your highest values unleashes unshakeable confidence.
Saying and doing the right things at the right time increases courage. Saying and doing the wrong things opens up to fear. Repetition is the key to manifestation.
The act of disciplining yourself to be proactive, to subordinate your feelings to your values, and to do what you are required to do when it ought to be done to get the desired outcome or result develops courage.
The more you discipline yourself to say and do the right thing under the stress or pressure to conform, the greater will be the acceleration of the build-up of courage.
Steer The Course:
Your willingness to begin to act by faith with no logical guarantee of success but following your heart in only moving in the direction of your goals and dreams, is what it takes to live courageously and accomplish audaciously. To take those little steps one after another develops courage.
Stay The Course:
Your willingness to persist, persevere, and push through obstacles to grow above them to victory strengthens courage. Keep at it until you win at it.
Remember, it is at the brink of success that the fiercest battles are fought and won.
Key Points:
Consistently review your values and examine yourself in the light of your value system, and make continuous improvements.
When making everyday decisions, choose the options that fit into your values system.
Let your goals in life harmonize with your values
Let your values dictate your choices or actions every day.
Search and connect with people who share your values and also respect the choices of others, even when they are different from yours.
